Powering Leadership to Transform Health
Investing in leaders who are changing policies and practices in healthcare and other systems so everyone has a fair chance at a healthy life.
Your health shouldn’t be determined by who you are, your background or your ZIP code. But the health disparities created by structural racism shorten lifespans and lower quality of life. Leadership is a critical tool to remove these obstacles to wellbeing and ensure everyone can access what they need to be healthy.
About
RWJF invests in health and social justice leaders breaking down barriers to health equity in the U.S. by changing the racist or unfair policies, systems, and environments that create them.
We champion established leaders who are successfully advancing change and help emerging changemakers develop leadership skills to transform health. We also support programs and initiatives that build networks of leaders to reimagine systems, institutions, and communities.
We prioritize investment in three areas:
Across communities and networks, supported leaders are challenging structural racism in healthcare, transforming health systems to better reflect the communities they serve and designing more equitable policies, practices and environments.
Using bold approaches and remaining accountable to communities harmed by unjust systems, these changemakers are reshaping who has power, how decisions are made and what an equitable future for all looks like.
