Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Names William (Bill) Roell as Chief Financial Officer
Princeton, N.J.—The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) announced today that William (Bill) Roell has been named chief financial officer. In this role, he will direct the Foundation’s financial management and treasury activities in support of the strategic mission and in compliance with policies, laws, standards, and regulations. He will serve as a strategic and operational leader and specifically oversee all the Foundation’s financial functions and areas and direct the management of these various areas ensuring that all programs and initiatives are integrated and effective in supporting the overall mission, goals, and financial objectives of the Foundation. Bill will serve as a partner and resource to ensure that the Foundation’s financial policies and expenditures align with its mission, vision and guiding principles, including equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI). Having served most recently as RWJF interim chief financial officer and treasurer, he will step into this role as of September 1, 2021.

Roell has an extensive background in not-for-profit accounting. Before joining RWJF in 2012, he spent thirteen years at Rider University as associate vice president for Finance. Prior to Rider University, he worked at the public accounting firm of KPMG LLP where he focused on not-for-profit audit and consulting clients.

Roell received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting from Rider University and is a certified public accountant in the State of New Jersey.
