RWJF Statement Welcoming Richard Besser, MD, as President and CEO

The following is a statement from Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, MD, former president and CEO of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Dear Rich,

Congratulations on becoming the president and CEO of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. It’s an important day for you and for our outstanding organization.

The Foundation has an audacious goal—to work with others to build a Culture of Health that provides everyone in America the opportunity to live the healthiest life possible. It may feel overwhelming at times. It did for me. But you are surrounded by the smartest, most strategic, dedicated and hardworking people, who are the very best part of this work. Moreover, you have a nationwide community of intelligent, passionate, committed grantees and partners who strive to make everyone in America healthier. And together you will accomplish great things.

So, more often than not, you will feel inspired, exhilarated, and proud to be part of something so critical to our nation. I wish you success and much happiness in your new role.
