Shakila Woltz (she/her/hers), joined the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) in 2019, bringing her passion for improving the health of marginalized communities to her work in ensuring that every grantee experience is equitable and accessible. In her role at RWJF she seeks to ensure that all applicants, regardless of their resources, are able to confidently apply for RWJF funding. Working with the Foundation’s Pioneering Ideas for an Equitable Future team, which explores innovative ideas and emerging trends, Shakila coordinates the grantmaking process from concept to award. She also serves as an equity lead for the RWJF Equity Leadership Group.
Shakila is a co-chair on the Black Caucus for PEAK Grantmaking. Previously, she served as a program director for the Raritan Bay Area YMCA 21st Century Community Learning Center - Building Beyond Barriers (B3) program, an out of school time initiative for middle and high school students. She also created Healthy & Black, an internet platform for sharing information about health news that impacts Black and Brown communities. Earlier, she was an AmeriCorps program manager at the Jewish Renaissance Foundation in Middlesex, N.J.
Shakila earned an MA in Health Administration from New Jersey City University in Jersey City, N.J., and a BS in Health Education with a minor in Public Health from Montclair State University, Montclair, N.J. She is also a chartering member and former board secretary of the Central New Jersey chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.
In her leisure time, Shakila enjoys experiencing life with her husband and their new baby; wine and beer tasting; and teaching herself how to sew.
