Cass Kingsbury

Cass Kingsbury joined the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) in  2018. She currently helps to coordinate administration and learning for various portfolios of funding. Previously she worked with the Foundation’s four key leadership development programs, where she helped to advance RWJF’s strategies for developing and connecting interdisciplinary networks of leaders who have a shared vision for health equity and a desire to work together for greater support and impact. 

Previously, Cass served as assistant director of volunteer engagement with the Rutgers University Foundation, where she helped caring people find meaningful volunteer opportunities to support the Rutgers community and alumni network. Her role included guiding 30 volunteer-led organizations, developing outreach and leadership training, and promoting volunteer opportunities throughout the University. In her earlier work with Rutgers, she coordinated and directed alumni relations events such as reunions and homecomings.

Cass earned her BA in English and Medieval Studies from Rutgers University in 2011 and pursued non-degree studies in public health and sciences from 2013 to 2016. She is currently pursuing her MPH at the Rutgers School of Public Health. She has drawn inspiration from the work of fellow Rutgers alum Ella Watson-Stryker, a health promotion specialist with Doctors Without Borders. Hearing about Watson-Stryker’s work cemented Kingsbury’s decision to pursue public health and reinforced for her the importance of communities driving and sustaining solutions for the issues that affect them.

After growing up in Hackettstown, N.J., Cass now resides in Highland Park, N.J., where she showers love and attention on her two cats. She served as a volunteer member of the Highland Park Board of Health for several years, and currently focuses on supporting local mutual aid networks.
