Vicki L. Fuller, MBA, CPA, was elected to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Board of Trustees in January 2023, effective April 2023.

Vicki brings to the Board many decades of investment and executive leadership experience as well as for-profit and nonprofit board experience. She is the founder and CEO of VLF Development LLC, a strategic consultancy she founded in 2018. As CEO, Vicki oversees the execution of complex institutional advisory assignments. Previously, she had a successful, four-decades-long career in financial services culminating with serving as chief investment officer of the New York State Common Retirement Fund (NYS Common).

VLF Development is resourced to provide expert investing and operations advice as well as executive leadership optimization across all financial and strategic areas of institutions. An in-demand keynote speaker and workshop facilitator, Vicki has been retained to provide expert counsel, strategic insight, and critical analysis on matters related to global investment trends, talent development, culture and society, and social justice. She is a committed mentor for the next generation of corporate executives and board directors.

From 2012 to 2018, Vicki served as chief investment officer at NYS Common, the third-largest public pension fund in the United States with more than $216 billion in assets during her tenure. At NYS Common, she was successful in building and executing investment strategies to ensure the fund continued to deliver superior returns for more than 1 million employees and retirees. Under her leadership, the fund generated a nearly 2 percent annualized premium to its required rate of return.

Prior to NYS Common, Vicki had a 27-year career at AllianceBernstein, a global investment manager with more than $500 billion in assets under management at the time. At AllianceBernstein, she was managing director, portfolio manager, and a senior member of the business development team providing institutional investor client service coverage. Prior to AllianceBernstein, Vicki held senior analyst and associate roles at Standard and Poor’s and Morgan Stanley.

Vicki is a director of Ariel Alternatives, Blackstone Credit, Fidelity Investments, Treliant, and a member of the Equity Alliance Advisory Board. She is also a Roosevelt University Trustee and a member of the New York University Stern Executive Board.
