About this Opportunity

Reporting to the senior director, Applications Technology and Data Architecture, the senior software analyst will support RWJF’s strategic initiative to modernize its Grants Management system. This role will serve as a bridge between business partners and technical teams, ensuring Salesforce solutions are aligned with RWJF’s philanthropic mission, operational workflows, and integration ecosystem. The senior software analyst may guide the work of others performing similar tasks including organizing, setting priorities, scheduling, and reviewing work.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Business Analysis and Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with RWJF Program staff, Grants Management, IT, and external partners to elicit, document, and validate business requirements aligned with the grantmaking lifecycle.
• Salesforce Solution Design and Configuration: Translate grantmaking processes into scalable Salesforce solutions using the Grantmaking Application with Nonprofit Cloud and Experience Cloud and ensure alignment with RWJF’s operational and strategic goals.
• Agile Delivery and Documentation: Develop user stories, acceptance criteria, and test cases to support application intake, review, award, disbursement, and reporting phases.
• Integration and Technical Collaboration: Support integration efforts with systems such as Workday, Docusign, and Guidestar/Candid; collaborate with developers, project managers, and vendors to ensure deliverables meet contractual and quality standards.
• Stakeholder Engagement and Change Management: Facilitate workshops and feedback sessions to align system capabilities with business needs; support change management, training, and adoption strategies for internal teams and external grantees.
• Quality Assurance (QA) and Testing: Manage QA processes across development projects, including integration testing, defect tracking, and adherence to functional policies and best practices.
• User Support and Enablement: Provide technical guidance and documentation to end users, ensuring solutions are intuitive, effective, and user friendly.
• Technology Awareness and Governance: Maintain current knowledge of evolving technologies—especially user interface development tools and web platforms—and promote consistent application of functional procedures and QA standards.
• Lifecycle Planning and Execution: Define and manage full software development lifecycle plans, including scoping, scheduling, prototyping, testing, user acceptance, and implementation.

Minimum Requirements

• Commitment to racial and health equity and the Foundation’s vision, values, and Guiding Principles.
• Three to five years of Business Analyst experience, with 2+ years in Salesforce projects, preferably in nonprofit or philanthropic organizations.
• Experience with Salesforce Grantmaking Applications with Nonprofit Cloud, Experience Cloud, and configuration management.
• Proficient in Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira and Confluence.
• Demonstrated understanding of the full application development lifecycle.
• Experience with two or more full lifecycle Salesforce implementations.
• Experience managing agile build cycles, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and iterative development.
• Hands-on experience with application testing tools such as Playwright.
• Proven ability to perform QA activities including manual testing, defect tracking, and validation of software functionality.
• Experience supporting change management and training for diverse user groups.
• Experience supporting end users and developing user-friendly documentation.
• Strong communication and partner engagement skills.
• Core Microsoft 365 skills including use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint.
• Demonstrated project management experience, including managing multiple projects and/or project teams.
• Ability to define test plans, test cases, and acceptance criteria in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Strong orientation toward quality assurance and process improvement.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to present technical concepts in user-friendly language.
• Strong interpersonal skills; able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.
• Adaptability to shift priorities and deadlines.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Systems, Public Administration, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Preferred: Candidates whose experience exceeds the minimum requirements will be considered with particular interest for the role: 
  • Five or more years of experience with Salesforce certifications including Certified Business Analyst, Administrator, Nonprofit Cloud Consultant and/or Solution Architect; experience with grantmaking systems and nonprofit data standards; knowledge of data governance, security models, and impact reporting frameworks.
  • Seven or more years of experience with Salesforce certifications including Certified Business Analyst, Administrator, Nonprofit Cloud Consultant and/or Solution Architect; experience with grantmaking systems and nonprofit data standards; knowledge of data governance, security models, and impact reporting frameworks.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

The incumbent will perform job duties in a typical business office environment. Specific physical abilities required by this job include operating basic office equipment. Hybrid: Flexible Purpose (HFP) Explained

As of January 1, 2023, the Foundation has implemented a model we call Hybrid: Flexible Purpose (HFP). RWJF’s new operating model is the infrastructure (e.g., policies, practices, protocols, procedures, systems) that forms the basis for how the day-to-day operations are managed, culture is built and nurtured, and mission is delivered. This model is designed to meet the needs of the organization while giving employees as much flexibility as possible. On-site participation is determined by job responsibilities, organizational and team-level requirements, and mandatory gatherings throughout the year. While there are no fixed days per week, all employees are expected to plan their time on-site and cover commuting expenses as needed to meet those expectations. Salary

The non-negotiable starting salary for this position is $122,400. Candidates who the Foundation determines have directly related experience exceeding the minimum requirements may be provided a higher starting salary of up to $134,640. All salary offers are non-negotiable.
