Michelle Arroyo
Grants Management Specialist
Michelle Arroyo joined the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) in 2008. She acts as a grantmaking process expert and monitors proposals and pending grants through their life cycles. She also manages and coordinates the efforts of three Grants Management teams to ensure compliance with RWJF and team-specific processes, policies, and norms. She views her work as an integral part of helping the Foundation achieve its vision of a world where every person has the opportunity to live a healthier life.
Previously, Michelle served as a program administrative assistant where she edited and posted to LinkedIn; helped staff learn more about RWJF’s social media presence; uploaded content to the Foundation’s What’s Next Health blog; and created links to speaker biographies and webpages, discussion topics, and video recordings of speeches at the Foundation. Michelle’s earlier work included support for the Research-Evaluation-Learning unit.
Michelle began her career as a senior legal secretary and paralegal. Prior to RWJF, Michelle worked with UBS Financial Services in Weehawken, N.J., and served as senior secretary to the senior vice president and head of chemical investment of Lehman Brothers, Inc., in New York City. She has also served as a volunteer coordinator for JA Finance Park, an innovation in experiential education designed to engage middle school students for life and work in the real world.
Michelle earned her BA, Magna Cum Laude, from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, N.J. She also holds a Paralegal Certificate from Fairleigh Dickinson.
Born in Manhattan, New York, Michelle was inspired by her father’s advice to “follow through in all you do and stand behind your word.” She now lives in North Brunswick, N.J., where in addition to spending time with her family and grandchildren, she continues to sharpen her salsa dancing skills.
