Dental Plans Dataset
This Dental Plans Dataset tracks a number of issues concerning dental plans sold on the marketplaces and access to dental care for underserved populations for every U.S. state.
This dataset is current as of June 29, 2015, and contains data on how benefits were offered for plan year 2014.
The dataset examines the implementation of the inclusion of pediatric dental coverage as one of the essential health benefits, under which one is still considered a child for this benefit, and any state mandates regarding the purchase of pediatric dental coverage. This dataset also collects the number of dental health professional shortage areas as defined by the Health Resources and Services Administration and reports on whether dental professionals such as dental hygienists are able to reach these underserved populations by offering services outside of the traditional dentist's office.
