Medicaid and the Young Invincibles Under the Affordable Care Act: Who Knew?
More than 5 Million Young Invincibles Eligible for Medicaid by January 2014
A major push to get the so-called "young invincibles" to purchase insurance coverage in the Affordable Care Act's (ACA) new health insurance exchanges is underway.
Nearly 5.4 million uninsured young adults are currently eligible for Medicaid, or will become eligible in January 2014.
Many of these young adults are already enrolled in social programs like unemployment assistance, or have a child who is enrolled in Medicaid.
Targeted outreach based on these pre-existing social program ties could reach as many as half of these uninsured young adults.
