Talking with Physicians about Improving Payment and Reimbursement
This report details research conducted to develop and test simple messages that will help local Aligning Forces for Quality leaders begin discussions about payment and delivery reforms with physicians in their community. It is the result of one-on-one interviews and a national survey with primary care doctors, along with consumer focus groups.
It was commissioned by RWJF in support of its Aligning Forces for Quality (AF4Q) initiative, which in 16 communities, will develop and test models of paying for health care based on value—not volume—of services provided by physicians and other providers. AF4Q is RWJF’s signature effort to lift the overall quality of health care in targeted communities, as well as reduce racial and ethnic disparities and provide real models of local reform to national leaders.
