Center for State Health Policy Established in New Jersey
Beginning with a 1997 planning grant, RWJF created and supported the Rutgers Center for State Health Policy, an initiative within the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research. The center's mission is to inform, support and stimulate state health policy in New Jersey and around the nation.
The Center for State Health Policy provided research, program evaluation, policy analysis and technical assistance to the New Jersey legislature and state agencies, federal agencies, and state and national health care organizations. The center's core areas of research include long-term care; access and coverage; health and long-term-care workforce; and health system performance improvement.
The center produced 73 peer-reviewed journal articles, 120 research reports, 82 short-format briefs and six chart books (collections of tables and diagrams on specific health topics).
The center built a state and national reputation as a respected, nonpartisan source of evidence-based information and analysis on health policy.
