Governors and Their Policy Staff Learn Best Practices for Meeting Health and Social Needs of Aging Population

The National Governors Association Center for Best Practices created the Aging Initiative to help governors and their policy staffs respond to the needs of America's aging population. From 2002 to 2006, project staff shared best practices through publications and provided technical assistance on aging to states.

Key Results

  • Project staff:

    • Ran a policy academy for eight states called Rebalancing Long-Term Care Systems Toward Quality Community Living and Healthy Aging.
    • Produced a data book on state aging trends and indicators and three issue briefs and one fact sheet on various topics related to aging.
    • Provided technical assistance to 14 states via site visits, research and memos.
