Bilingual Website Offers Pediatric Palliative Care Information for Parents
The Children's Hospice and Palliative Care Coalition (CHPCC) created a new website and its Spanish counterpart to meet the medical, psychological and emotional needs of parents whose children are seriously or terminally ill.
Key Results
In June 2006, CHPCC launched www.partnershipforparents.org, an online resource designed along the continuum of a child's illness that parents can use at any point—from their child's diagnosis and treatment to recovery or death.
CHPCC simultaneously launched www.padrescompadres.org, the only Spanish-language website for parents of seriously or terminally ill children.
CHPCC plans to use survey data from the websites to support a state waiver from federal hospice eligibility requirements so that children can receive palliative care at any point in their illness, not just at the terminal stage.
