Physician Opinions Sought to Create Report Cards that Rate Health Plans

From 1996 to 2003, researchers at the University of Minnesota investigated the usefulness of developing physician report cards to complement consumer report cards and other measures of the quality of managed care plans.

Key Findings

  • The researchers found that reports providing feedback on the quality of preventive care and patient satisfaction were more often seen as useful when physicians trusted their accuracy and felt that the health care plan considered their views on care management.
