New York City-Based Hispanic Clergy Complete Mental Health Training Program to Better Serve Their Congregations
From 1997 to 2001, staff at the Blanton-Peale Institute refined, strengthened and expanded its training program in mental health counseling for Hispanic pastors serving inner city congregations that it had developed with prior funding from RWJF (see Program Results Report on ID# 021800).
The Blanton-Peale Institute is a licensed, nonprofit, multi-faith, nonsectarian, multicultural counseling center based in New York City.
More than 1,000 people completed various levels of training through the pastoral care training program.
Some 104 participants graduated from the program's intensive two-year Pastoral Care Skills Program.
Several program graduates developed pastoral care and mental health initiatives in their congregations.
