Examination of Family Caregivers' Roles Leads to Book Outlining New Policy Recommendations

Staff from the United Hospital Fund of New York brought together a working group of researchers, clinicians, policy-makers and family caregiver advocates to produce an analysis leading to the development of more accurate measures of the work performed by family caregivers.

Key Results

  • Produced the book Family Caregivers on the Job: Moving Beyond ADLs and IADLs, which includes the five papers commissioned under the first grant, a sixth paper written as a concluding chapter for the book, and the synthesis paper based on the results of the working group meetings.

  • Published the synthesis paper, "Family Caregivers on the Job: Moving Beyond ADLs and IADLs," in the peer-reviewed journal Generations: Journal of the American Society on Aging.
