Do it for the Kids: Family Substance Abuse Treatment Linked to Children's Issues

In 2001, the Child Welfare League of America conducted an educational campaign to convey the importance and effectiveness of substance abuse treatment for families involved with the child welfare system.

Key Results

  • The league prepared and disseminated a 24-page booklet, Alcohol, Other Drugs and Child Welfare,describing the challenges and consequences of substance abuse and child abuse and neglect, as well as programs that work effectively to address these problems.
  • The league distributed outreach kits developed by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as part of its National Recovery Month 2001.
