MADD Sought Criteria for an "Honor Roll" of Colleges Battling Alcohol Abuse

From September 1996 to March 1997, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) planned for the creation of MADD's Honor Roll of Colleges—a program to highlight schools with recommended alcohol prevention policies.

Key Results

  • Developed a proposed grading system for rating the colleges based on seven MADD recommended alcohol policies and practices.

  • Determined methods for collection of data, sample size, and a verification process.

  • Won the support of eight national organizations to help ensure that colleges would participate in the Honor Roll surveys.
