Evaluating the Four-Day School Week Policy

2018 Call for Proposals

This Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) funding opportunity will provide up to $1 million to support an evaluation of a four-day school week policy in rural settings and an associated cost study. The goal of this award is to build the field’s evidence about the pros and cons of this policy and its impact on children’s academic, social, emotional, and physical well-being, as well as the potential impacts on their families and broader communities. This research is intended to guide policy decisions of educators in rural communities in ways that promote the health and well-being of the whole child.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

  • Preference will be given to applicant organizations that are either institutes of higher eduction, public entities or nonprofit organizations that are tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code but other types of nonprofit and for-profit organizations are eligible to apply.
  • Applicant organizations must be based in the United States or its territories.
  • Awards will be made to organizations, not to individuals.

Grant begins.

Total Awards

  • One research grant of up to $1 million will be awarded through this call for proposals (CFP).
  • Grants are expected to be for a minimum funding period of 24 months and a maximum funding period of 36 months.
