On September 8, the National Research Council will release a framework and guidance document on the role of health impact assessments in improving health in the U.S., developed over several months by an expert panel.

The committee was asked to develop a framework, terminology, and guidance for conducting health impact assessments of proposed policies, programs, and projects, such as transportation, land use, housing, and agriculture at federal, state, tribal, and local levels, including the private sector. The committee assessed the value and potential value of such assessments, and identified obstacles and criteria for conducting assessments.

The public briefing with the authoring committee will take place September 8 at the Venable Conference Center in Washington, DC. Register to attend.
