Sam Patel joined the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in 2016 as a senior digital analyst, bringing his expertise in competitive intelligence analysis to his work within the office of the director of digital communications. In this capacity, he develops analytics frameworks, and provides insights and strategic recommendations to help the foundation determine its digital strategy, content development, audience engagement, media relations, and marketing outreach. He views his work as “an opportunity to help bridge qualitative and quantitative data and leverage analytics to help improve the health for everyone in America.”
Previously, Sam served for more than a decade as both a senior competitive intelligence analyst and a competitive intelligence analyst with the Educational Testing Service in Princeton, N.J. In these roles, he provided strategic intelligence, market research, and industry analysis focused on supporting K-12, international, and higher education markets. Earlier, he provided IT solutions and account analysis for two other N.J. companies.
Sam earned both a BA in Economics and a graduate certificate in business from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey–New Brunswick. Since 2008, he has volunteered as the Rutgers National Chapter Advisor for the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity, providing oversight and mentorship to undergraduate officers and membership. He has also been a member of the Executive Board of the Alpha Sigma Phi Alumni Association at Rutgers.
Born in New York City, he currently resides in East Brunswick, N.J. In addition to his volunteer work with Rutgers, he enjoys football and outdoor activities.
