Writing in a supplement to the American Journal of Nursing, medical and nursing executives from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles recount their institution's experience with implementing video rounding on several surgical units. This use of Internet-based video chat software to allow physicians to remotely see and consult with patients and nurses on the unit was an initiative undertaken within the Transforming Care at the Bedside (TCAB) framework, a nurse-led, rapid-change quality improvement program. All of the users in the pilot program reported being highly satisfied and the system is now being expanded to other units and applications.
