Congress Approves Measure to Extend Ryan White HIV/AIDS Funding

The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a measure that will extend for four years funding for the Ryan White Program, which provides primary care and other assistance to individuals with HIV/AIDS, AHA News Now reports. The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act reauthorizes the program through September 30, 2013, and allows for a 5 percent annual funding increase, among other provisions. The Senate has already approved the measure, which will now go President Barack Obama for final approval (AHA News Now, 10/22/09).
