Public Opinion Strategies conducted a national survey of 900 registered likely voters on their perceptions of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). Enacted in 1997, SCHIP provides each state with federal funds for a health insurance program for vulnerable children. SCHIP provides health insurance coverage for more than 6 million children whose parents work but cannot afford insurance on their own.
