National Medical Fellowships (NMF) expanded its scholarship support for minority medical students from approximately 300 students in 1990–1991 to 2,528 from 1991–1996.
NMF is the only national, private, nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the number of underrepresented minorities in medicine.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) supported this effort from September 1991 to August 1996 with a $5 million grant.

Grant Results Reports
RWJF produces Grant Results reports on its funded initiatives. External writers and editors read the entire grant to prepare each report, which is then reviewed by RWJF staff and by the director of the initiative. Any reviewer in the chain may ask for changes in the report to improve clarity or accuracy.
