Niagara University, Catholic Health System Partner for Nursing Education Programs

Catholic Health System and Niagara University have announced that they will partner on two new programs designed to improve the educational and professional development of nurses and health care executives, Buffalo Business First reports. The first partnership is the Catholic Health Nurse Scholars initiative, which will allow R.N.s employed at the health system to receive their Bachelor's Degree in Nursing over a 30-month period. The program, which will see nurses completing coursework at both the university's campus and the health system's education center, is slated to begin in January 2010. A second partnership, meanwhile, will allow students enrolled in the school's masters of business administration's health care administration concentration the opportunity to participate in field placements and mentorships at the health system. As part of the leadership development program, students can also apply for an overseas travel opportunity where they would join volunteers participating in Catholic Health East's Global Health Ministry in Jamaica. Business First notes that the leadership program is scheduled to begin this fall (Drury, Buffalo Business First, 8/21/09).
