Edmond J. Ghisu

Associate Counsel

As associate counsel at the Foundation, Edmond J. Ghisu, J.D., works on investment matters and serves as a legal representative for the Quality/Equality Targeted Portfolio Team and its Pioneer Portfolio Team. He also works with RWJF’s Human Resources department on employee benefit matters. Drawn to the Foundation’s focus on improving the health and health care of all Americans, he praises its state-of-the-art legal work in investments and grantmaking. As he notes: “the Foundation is all about doing something good for society.”

Ghisu joined RWJF in 2006 after serving as a business and finance attorney for six years with Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll. His practice focused primarily on partnership and joint venture transactions and securities law matters. Prior to his employment with Ballard Spahr, he worked as a commercial litigator for Hangley Aronchick Segal & Pudlin, and Drinker Biddle & Reath, LLP.

He serves as a director on the board of the Northeast Philadelphia branch of The Settlement Music School, the largest community-based school of the arts in the United States. In 2005, Philadelphia Magazine named him a “Philadelphia Rising Star.”

Ghisu received his J.D. from Temple University School of Law and his B.A. in political science from West Chester University.

Born in Philadelphia he resides in Warrington, Pa. with his wife, Elena, and son and daughter. He enjoys photography, art, and music.
