This grant supports the TED MED 2009 conference, a provocative forum for exploring the interplay of health care, communications, medical technology and business. TED MED is a spin-off of Richard Saul Wurman's well known TED conferences, an acronym for Technology Entertainment Design. Wurman also created and chaired previous TED MED conferences, the last one being held in 2006. The event focuses on innovative developments and possibilities in the health care space, generating conversations that demonstrate the intersection and connections between all things medical and health care related. The event can encompass issues ranging from personal health to public health, devices to design, and Hollywood to the hospital setting. The conference will be October 27-30, 2009 in San Diego. This sponsorship affords the Foundation a powerful branding and networking opportunity, including: (1) recognition as a major sponsor of TED MED 2009; (2) inclusion of our corporate logo/name on major TED MED 2009 materials and promotions, such as event signage, the Web site and event programs; (3) mention of our corporate name by program spokesperson outreach to the national media; (4) meetings between TED MED staff and the Foundation's Pioneer team to further develop the Foundation's level of participation; (5) Foundation input into the speaker-selection process; and (6) five tickets to the conference and an opportunity to purchase ten more.
