Victor Joseph was named an RWJF Community Health Leader in 2001 for his leadership of an addiction recovery program for Alaska Natives. Today he works to expand access to health care for the 42 tribes living in the interior of Alaska.

Program Results Report
Between 2006 and 2010, nine state-provider partnerships identified and removed barriers and changed administrative procedures in order to improve the quality of substance abuse services. RWJF supported two of the partnerships, in New York and Oklahoma.

In 2006, the State Associations of Addiction Services held its first conference to improve management skills of addiction treatment program leaders. NIATx (Network for Improvement of Addiction Treatment) helped in planning. Since 2008, the two organizations have sponsored joint conferences.
