Evaluation
In 2005, West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin III signed into law House Bill 2816--the Healthy Lifestyles Act--to help address the state's obesity epidemic. The evaluation was conducted in 2007 by a team from West Virginia University Health Sciences Center and was supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

The childhood obesity research discussed in this article was conducted over the past 10 years through four projects in West Virginia that range from a school-based cardiovascular risk screening program to an evaluation of state legislation targeting childhood obesity via modifications in the school environment.

Program Result Report
A project team at Children's Hospital Corporation in Boston determined how to organize, deliver, and finance services for technology-dependent children who have made the transition from hospital to the public schools. These are children who are on long-term oxygen therapy, ventilatory assistance, intravenous feedings, and other types of highly technical care. Then they replicated the project.
