On December 1-2, 2005, staff with the Georgia Department of Human Resources held a conference to redesign how the Division of Public Health works to improve the health of Georgians.

It Takes a Community to Solve a Health Problem

From 1993 to 2001, George Washington University Medical Center, Washington, developed and implemented Community Health in Focus, a program designed to use the convening role of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) to stimulate action on health care issues identified by local communities.

In 1990, Dr. Hotz's focus on collaboration led to the creation of another nonprofit organization designed to coordinate public and private health resources, improve community health status, and increase the local availability of health professionals.
