Impact of Changes in Clinical Practice Guidelines on Assessment of Quality of Care

Existing evidence is the basis for clinical practice guidelines. Because the evidence base changes rapidly, adherence to guidelines might be a misleading performance measure. This study analyzed indications for percutaneous coronary interventions using guidelines established in 2001 and 2005.
