Researchers Identify Ways to Measure and Improve Home Health Care

From 1988 through 2003, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) supported the Development and Implementation of a Quality Improvement System for Home Health Care. The effort comprised six projects and was designed to improve the quality of home health, long-term and ambulatory care, and to study methods to improve health care quality in these settings.

Measuring how Well Doctors Care for Patients with Diabetes

Tufts University School of Medicine tested physician-level measures of quality of care for patients with diabetes using a database from a previous study of ambulatory care quality for Medicare beneficiaries.

Elder Health Program in Baltimore Achieves Better Outcomes for Low-Income Elderly Through a Capitated System

The Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health studied Elder Health, a for-profit managed-care provider in Baltimore, Md., that serves individuals eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid (i.e., dually eligible).

Maryland Saves Millions Through High-Risk Patient Management Initiative
