Through its MOMobile at Riverside program, the Maternity Care Coalition in Philadelphia provided education and support services to female inmates who were pregnant and/or mothers of young children. RWJF supported the program from 2006 through 2010.

Treatment Research Institute developed a pilot project to train public defenders in Pennsylvania to identify clients with substance abuse issues and refer them to appropriate health and social services.

Investigators at the University of Pittsburgh coordinated a longitudinal study of 1,355 serious adolescent offenders in Philadelphia and Phoenix to learn what paths led them to continued engagement with the criminal justice system or away from it.
