Previous studies have shown that self-assessment of future health is a robust predictor of mortality in older adults. This study examines the relationship between 10-year mortality and three self-rated health measures in an aging cohort—current health, health one year in the future and a combined measure of current and future health.

Investigators at the Johns Hopkins University Institute for Policy Studies examined the relative cost-effectiveness of different housing configurations for people with chronic mental illness. The culture-change movement is a broad-based effort to transform nursing homes from impersonal health care institutions into true person-centered homes offering long-term care services. The movement encompasses almost three decades of consumer advocacy coupled with legal, legislative, and policy work aimed at improving both the quality of care and the quality of life in nursing homes.
