Early Impact of the Federally Mandated Local Wellness Policy on Physical Activity in Rural, Low-Income Elementary Schools in Colorado

The implementation of federally mandated Local Wellness Policies had a minimal impact, according to a study of 45 rural Colorado school districts. After implementation, there was no change in the time spent in physical education and recess, nor in the policies supporting student participation in those activities.
