Trends and Regional Variation in Hip, Knee and Shoulder Replacement

The rate of hip, knee, and shoulder replacements for Medicare patients is growing rapidly, and there is widespread variation in how likely patients are to undergo this surgery, depending on where they live and their race, according to this new report from the Dartmouth Atlas Project.

If you are Latino and have health insurance, you are 1.5 times more likely to have good health care than a Latino without health insurance. Researchers found that more than three in four Latinos with health insurance said they had excellent/good health care compared to only one in two Latinos without health insurance.
