In July 2011, O'Reilly Media convened a two-day meeting of leaders in health care and technology to generate new ideas and collaborations on health and health care. The meeting focused on brainstorming and group problem solving.

In 2006, the State Associations of Addiction Services held its first conference to improve management skills of addiction treatment program leaders. NIATx (Network for Improvement of Addiction Treatment) helped in planning. Since 2008, the two organizations have sponsored joint conferences.
