In this chapter, the author chronicles the entire array of Foundation programs, from the early 1990s to the present day, aimed at reducing smoking in the United States.
Although tobacco use has decreased, it is the leading cause of death in the United States. Implementing a combination of policy changes including clean indoor air laws, higher per-pack taxes, and cessation efforts are proven to reduce tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke.
