Determined to make progress in tobacco control, RWJF invested nearly $700 million between 1991 and 2009 in seven groundbreaking programs.
Although tobacco use has decreased, it is the leading cause of death in the United States. Implementing a combination of policy changes including clean indoor air laws, higher per-pack taxes, and cessation efforts are proven to reduce tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke.
