Hahn hoped to use her fellowship to develop coalitions with other tobacco control advocates around the country and tobacco policy researchers from southern states.
Although tobacco use has decreased, it is the leading cause of death in the United States. Implementing a combination of policy changes including clean indoor air laws, higher per-pack taxes, and cessation efforts are proven to reduce tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke.
