Key Results

  • The project team:

    • Identified and engaged with collaborators to design and sustain a statewide system of support for families with children who have developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors.
    • Trained a total 1,494 people (family members, teachers, school principals, community providers, and others) at sessions throughout the state of Alaska using the positive behavioral support model, an evidence-based approach to eliminating difficult behaviors and replacing them with pro-social skills.
    • Coordinated and supported expansion of behavioral services for children to other Alaska communities
    • Improved parent-to-parent contacts so that families can provide advice and support to each other.
