Prescription for Health: Promoting Healthy Behaviors in Primary Care Research Networks
ASQUIRE Summary Report
The evaluation of Prescription for Health sought to incorporate effective health behavior counseling into routine primary care. The program:
- Made grants to Practice Based Research Networks (PBRNs) supported by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). Practices belonging to these PBRNs then chose to participate.
- Began by developing and testing new models and tools for health behavior counseling in primary care office visits.
- Sought to learn how to integrate the models and tools permanently into the practices.
The report describes various program and program elements, continuous quality improvement strategy, purpose and design of the evaluation, methodology, findings, limitations, tools, and lessons learned.
