Jobs to Careers, Transforming the Frontlines of Health Care

Communications and Media Outreach Toolkit

Jobs to Careers is an award-winning project of the Robert Wood Johnson (RWJF) and Hitachi Foundations, with additional support from the US Department of Labor. The five-year pilot (2006-11) is demonstrating the success of work-based learning in providing opportunities for the nation’s more than six and a half million frontline health care workers.

Seventeen J2C grantees from across the nation, including Alaska and Hawaii, designed innovative programs that expanded employer/educational institution partnerships and transformed organizations to support frontline worker career advancement.

The Communications and Media Outreach Toolkit is designed to assist the grantees with promotion of the innovative model and:

  • Includes overview information about the five-year demonstration;
  • Reports on the year-long communications initiative (using both traditional and social media efforts with examples from the sites);
  • Provides J2C sites with ‘how-to’ information on designing communications and outreach activities; and
  • Links to valuable communications resources.
