The Power of Diversity

Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, M.D., M.B.A., president and CEO of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, provided the keynote address at the University of Michigan Summer Enrichment Program in Health Management and Policy (SEP)’s 25th Anniversary Celebration on April 1, 2011.

This symposium, entitled “Diversity and Inclusion: Transforming Health Organizations to Improve Community Health,” convened nationally renowned leaders in health care to address how the inclusion of people of color in leadership ranks of organizations can have a positive effect on the health status of diverse populations. In her remarks, Lavizzo-Mourey stressed the importance of inclusion and collaboration in the public health sector.
