National Conferences to Increase the Capacity of the U.S. Tobacco-Control Movement
National Conferences on Tobacco or Health 2007 and 2009
Danya International organized a National Conference on Tobacco or Health in 2007 and 2009 with the help of grants from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF).
The purposes of the national conferences were to:
- Increase the capacity of the U.S. tobacco-control movement to address effectively the tobacco-use problem and tobacco-caused morbidity and mortality by providing information and learning opportunities regarding current best practices, advocacy skills, lessons and emerging research in tobacco-control issues.
- Provide opportunities for attendees to network, exchange information and resources, learn from the experience of peers and experts, increase communication and grow and strengthen the tobacco-control community in the United States.
- Increase the knowledge base of those new to tobacco control and develop new leaders in the field.
