Initiative on the Future of Nursing

On October 5, 2010, Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, M.D., M.B.A., attended the release of "The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health" (IFN) landmark report on nursing development. Produced by the Institute of Medicine (IOM), the report provides four key strategies to bolster the nursing workforce and shape the future of nursing. In attendance at the National Press Club event were President of the Institute of Medicine Harvey V. Finberg , IFN committee chair and President of the University of Miami Donna Shalala, and IFN commitee co-chair and Vice President and CNO of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Linda Burnes Bolton, along with several other IFN committee members.

In 2008, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and IOM launched this two-year initiative to assess and transform the nursing profession.
