Field of Work: Informing state policymakers about complex health issues affecting their states.
Synopsis of the Work: The State Forums Partnership Program was a program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) that enabled seven states to establish health policy forums programs that provided timely, nonpartisan information and analysis to help state policy-makers make informed decisions about complex health care issues affecting their states. Texas was one of the participating states.
As described in this sidebar, the Texas Health Institute held nine statewide forums that were attended by 453 legislators and staff, state agency policy-makers, providers, and advocacy groups between 2000 and 2002. It also sponsored or co-sponsored eight local forums.
