In January 2008, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) convened a forum of researchers and practitioners working on the issue of childhood obesity to discuss the issues related to surveillance, screening and reporting of children's BMI. At the forum, a discussion followed the presentation of each paper.
The authors of this article sought to capture the most salient points raised during the discussion. As a result, many of these points were not considered in the articles that comprise the Pediatrics supplement, but are highly relevant to the screening, surveillance and reporting of BMI.
